  • Even though I could do X at home I enjoy doing it at Disney

Is there something that you enjoy doing at Disney even though you do it at home?

For me it's reading and/or using my Chromebook while sitting in my hotel's food court. I do this at my local Starbucks at home, but genuinely enjoy doing it when I'm at Disney. And, considering the cost of a Disney trip and how much there is to do and see at Disney likely strikes a lot of people as strange and a waste of both time and money. I think my doing this is partly a case of it's just who I am, but mostly a matter of how much time I've spent at Disney. When you consider that I have 12 trips behind me and only one of those has been for less than 9 nights my time at Disney likes totals 2 months and quite possibly more. And this is just Disney World. As for, Disneyland I couldn't begin to tell you how much I've spent there.

I enjoy getting my steps in and playing Pokemon Go! at WDW. Sometimes I just go there for the exercise...but of course I get on the rides, too! Perks of living 70 miles from my Happy Place. (Wish everyone could do this.)

Hmm, I wonder how much time I've spent at the parks? I'll check what's on my sig block and do some calculations.

...Okay, looks like about 25 trips before we moved down here, and most were 4 days, so 100 days = more than three months. I can't even begin to guess how many times I've been to WDW since then. It usually comes out to 3 to 5 days per month, sometimes more.

Looks like 14 visits to DLR, most of similar duration, so that's 40-60 days.

Wow, I've never done the math before!

I understand how you feel about doing the math. I was a bit stunned a few weeks ago when I realized that I've lived in my condo for 24 years (25 on December 15th), have known some of my pixies since I joined PassPorter in early August of 2006 because they were already part of PasssPorter, and that pdl is 4 and will be 5 on November 06th.

Count me pretty close to same here although I generally do my reading in our room or the resort lobby.

In fact, I'll "good ol' days" saying how much I miss there being a books and vinyl records shop at Disney. Buying both was such a highlight of my long-ago (ulp, 56 years!) trip to DLR that I still have 45s of the POTC and IASW themes along with an album of Mr. Lincoln's speech, flipside patriotic and folk songs.

While we dropped by Writer's Stop on a couple of trips before it closed, it never had much of a book selection, only current bestsellers with a few mysteries and thrillers that seemed more thematic than actually for sale.

There's obviously a far greater selection of ebooks and music today than anyone dreamed of that long ago, but I miss browsing the real things.

Even so, I'll still "waste" Disney time off in a quieter corner reading with my iPad. Another weirdo like you, Laura.

Count me in as one who would rather read at Disney. I’m in the middle of a series of short mysteries , and I am just looking forward to time at the pool reading on my phone or iPad.

Here’s a weird one. I would also rather do laundry at Disney. I just go back and forth from the pool one day near the end of my trip, and that way I’m not stuck doing a pile of laundry when I get home. We just unpack it and put it away.

            Disney laundry is magical. 😉

Once we started staying in DVC, it was simple to get it all done either with our 1br washer/dryer or the laundry room when in a studio. Free certainly works!

Yes!! One more way that us PassPorter Pixies are kindered spirits or siblings from different parents. I love knowing that I have partner in weirdness. If we're weird I feel sorry for all those "normals."

I too enjoy doing laundry while at Disney. However, I go back and forth from the food court. May us Disney weirdos live long and prosper. And, yes I know that's Star Trek but I'm definitely a Star Trek fan and not a Star Wars fan.

I also enjoy reading on my trips, especially when I have a balcony to sit on. Going out to eat is another.

Reading in the resort lobby, preferably Jambo House or Wildeness Lodge.
That might sound boring, but I think the boring stuff is the stuff I remember the most.
