GVTR sign changed

I’m very uneasy about this for those of us who love Afternoon Tea at the GF. Uneasy, heck, I’m upset.

I noticed yesterday that the sign outside the tea room now says “Garden View Lounge.”

So much for the Garden View Tea Room, it appears. Afternoon Tea will likely only be offered at the new bakery on the BoardWalk.

Must be lots of loungeflies of quite another sort at the GF.

That's such a shame to hear, but I'm not surprised. I'd pretty much resigned myself to anything that hasn't re-opened by now either never re-opening (Restaurant Marrakesh anyone?) or re-opening in a different form.

I think Marrakesh was a permanent closure anyway.

I can't say that I'm sorry to see it go. The last time I was there it was with my mom and it was bagged not loose leaf tea and we had buy to food. We ended up being allowed to only order one their "teas" that is a pot of tea plus a variety of food items and an extra pot of tea. However, our server (who also thought the policy was ridiculous) had to talk to the manger in order for us to do it. I still feel bad about it because my only agreed to doing because I had raved about it and she loves tea.

We had afternoon tea there in 1995 and it was wonderful! Sorry to see it go.

Huh. Maybe my memory's failed me yet again.

I happened onto an undated Disney Food Blog post that referred to Garden View Lounge as the site of Afternoon Tea and the Perfectly Princess Party, both currently unavailable.

It may always have had that sign displayed despite offering ADRs as Garden View Tea Room.

More discomfiting proof I'm human, it seems. (Along with a typo I just corrected. <sigh> )
