A Chromebook & Google Docs
Back in August I bought a small (11.6”) Chromebook to use on trips such as Disney that I know I wouldn’t really use a laptop during. In fact for my last several trips to Disney I haven’t even bothered to bring my laptop. However, now that I have pdl I knew I’d want something with a screen that’s larger than my phone and an actual keyboard that was lightweight and small enough to easily put in a backpack, tote or largish purse. Plus, I figured that it would be nice to have something like that when I go to Starbucks (there’s one a half mile from the house and I spend quite a bit of time there).
I started using it the next day at Starbucks and quickly fell in love with it. It also caused me to start using Google Drive which I also rather quickly fell in love with. After creating the Recapping & Reviewing forums I decided to try using this combo of Chromebook and Google Drive to do daily recaps as well as reviews while at Disney as the Chromebook is very easy to carry around.
To encourage myself to actually recap and review I did some prep work before I left home. I not only created folders in Google Drive but documents as well, so I’d be able to just open the document for say Disney After Hours at Magic Kingdom and write the recap/review.
I loved having the Chromebook at Disney. It got a lot of use particularly when I was at the resort as I would find myself sitting in the food court using it. I did use it in the parks but not as much as I thought I would of course I didn’t do very much so there wasn’t much to recap & review. I can see this combination of Chromebook and Google Docs becoming a travel staple for me. The Chromebook is small, lightweight, quick and easy to start up, use and shut down and does everything I want it to during a trip. And by using Google Docs I have access to any of my documents while on a trip which is nice and potentially productive. I’m very glad I purchased this little Chromebook and consider it money well spent.Tags: None
