  • Question of the Day 5/22/20

We did it, folks! We made it safely to another Friday! Yay!!

This week’s opening of part of Disney Springs made me think of food. This is really not a surprise, though. I’ve begun dreaming of a visit to Earl of Sandwich. Do you ever try to replicate a restaurant’s (Disney or other) sandwich at home? If so, what have you tried? Successful or not so much?

I don’t suppose I have tried it, but I am missing the Monte Cristo this morning!

No, I haven't. I guess that means I just haven't had a sandwich I've enjoyed enough to try it.

I don't think I've ever tried to replicate anything I've eaten in a restaurant. I don't see the point, as I know I could never do such a good job as they do.

I've never tried to replicate anything I've had at any restaurant. It would never taste the same and then I'd be disappointed.

Oh, sure. In fact, a Monte Cristo is what I've made for Drew. He said it was delicious.

If you can make a grilled cheese and french toast, a Monte is easy. A Monte Cristo is simply a sliced ham and Swiss cheese sandwich made like french toast, dipped in batter and browned in butter.

The only hard part is keeping the sandwich together when you flip it.

No I've never tried to duplicate a sandwich I had somewhere else. I've tried other things, but have never been successful.

No......that is one of my "look forward to's" on vacation. I think it would spoil the
"magic" for me if I did it.

No, because I know it would not be the same.
That might sound boring, but I think the boring stuff is the stuff I remember the most.

I haven't ever tried to replicate their sandwiches but I dream about the Thanksgiving sandwich they offer and can't wait to treat myself when I get back to WDW!

I made my own version of a grilled cheese sandwich from Roarin’ Forks last year. Sadly, it is not on the menu anymore. My version was very good!
We have an old Disney cookbook and have tried several recipes throughout the years.
