  • Today was a big day for us

No, we didn't do anything special, but today was still a big day. 30 years ago today, our DD was injured. The doctors gave her a 10% chance of making it through the night, and less than that to make it to her teen years. The docs also believed that if she did by some odd chance make it, she'd be severely mentally disabled and likely never more than vegetative.
Today, I called her tell her 'happy the doctors got it wrong' day. She's a quadriplegic, but still able to use her arms. She cooks (made steak and lobster for her dad and I Friday night), writes beautifully, writes fan fiction (I refuse to read it, so can't tell you how well), helps charities, and is a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. You all 'know' her as DD Samantha.

Happy the doctors got it wrong day. The pixies are headed your way to celebrate but be prepared because they have an elephant, an mri machine and a trampoline with them.

What a wonderful day to be celebrating! I love stories like this where the doctors got things happily wrong and people completely defied the odds, it's always uplifting to hear things like this.

Enjoying some relaxation time on the Transatlantic cruise on the Disney Magic - I'm Cheryl and with my husband Mark, we love visiting Disney and exploring the world...

Great day to celebrate! So glad the doctors were wrong.
That might sound boring, but I think the boring stuff is the stuff I remember the most.

My kids were told in 2012 that the chances were I would not live more than 6 months without a transplant, could live ten years with one. Instead, I fully recovered and am living a happy, productive and healthy life with my own heart 8 years later. I would love to have a thirtieth anniversary.

Wish your daughter the best for me. My best doctor, now a friend, keeps telling me it was me who did it with the support of my family. I am sure your daughter did the same and know she had endless family support.
