  • Question of the Day 9/19/22

    Good Monday, everyone!

How much of the coverage of the queen’s honors today will you watch? I wish I had the day off, so I could watch more, but I am sure I will watch it all on replay this evening. I have watched some already this morning.

None of it. I haven’t watched any of the coverage at all. I’m really not into the royals.

None of it. I'm just not interested.

I had it on while I was doing my usual routine this morning so I saw about 2 hours of it -- from 5:30-7:30 a.m. -- but didn't really *watch* it. And then since it was the only thing being shown on network TV, it was on at the training studio during my workout, but I didn't really pay attention to it.

I didn't watch the coverage, but I have read several articles and watched short clips.
I can't even imagine how the populace at large in the UK feels right now.

I had it on at work this morning.
That might sound boring, but I think the boring stuff is the stuff I remember the most.

I had to work today so I couldn’t watch it, but I would’ve liked to. I did watch it/listen to it while I was getting ready this morning.

We watched quite a bit of it this morning while sitting in the waiting room of our hospital's ER.

I can tell you - it was a very strange day. It's even stranger today, as we're "back to normal" after 10 days of national mourning. Now that's weird.

We watched all of from when we got up until the end of the committal at Windsor Castle, so about eight hours. We didn't have anything else to do. It was a national holiday and everything was closed down. Even McDonalds closed until 5:00pm.

Just to toss this back in, I just think, no matter if you are a royal watcher or not, this particular event was of world significance. Royal or not, the queen was in her position of service for longer than most of us have been alive. She was/is a major historical figure of the 20th and 21st centuries. That’s why, even as an American, I thought it was a significant day. Plus, nobody does up a public display like the Brits. It was beautiful to watch it all transpire with such precision.

Aw thank you for the compliment. You're right - we are definitely first when it comes to pomp and circumstance and the whole thing was so beautifully done. Admittedly, it had been decades in the planning, but even so, the pressure on those participating must have been so intense. There are lots of calls for those pall bearers to receive recognition, as they were so young and charged with such an important responsibility on the day.
